Measures of dispersion

In statistics, measures of dispersion are a group of mathematical technologies (ie, procedures or formulas) used for describing the spread of values in a dataset or, more often, the spread of values around a measure of central tendency. Measures of dispersion typically refer to the following:

role name
The total range of values in a distribution range
The spread of values in nominal variables modal dispersion, variation ratio
The spread of values around the median interquartile range
The spread of values around the mean standard deviation, variance
